Long is the road, short is the life.

At the end of my days, if someone were to ask me what the most important lesson I learnt over the years is, I’m not sure what my answer would be.

However, I do know a couple of truths. It’s true that humans don’t last forever. there will always be dreams left unfulfilled, and futures left unexplored.. countless possibilities, endless potential extinguished in silence. If we were meant to have everything we ever wanted, we would be decidedly less fickle and infinitely more durable.

So what? That doesn’t mean we spend our time yearning for what could have been, undoubtedly a very romantic notion. Life is made precious when you come to terms with the fact that it can end at any time. Everything ends, and that’s always sad. But everything begins again too, and that’s always happy (a cultured reference, cookies if you get it).

Wake up each day and live unapologetically. Explore, create, learn, be curious, be passionate, be brave, be present, love hard, take your dreams seriously. We cannot wait for life to get easier before we choose to be happy. I know you won’t notice the changes immediately. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, and maybe not any time in the near future.. but one day you’ll wake up and realize you’ve come a long way from who you were, and you’ll be proud of who you’ve become.

“Find out what makes you kinder, what opens you up and brings out the most loving, generous and unafraid version of you — and go after those things as if nothing else matters. Because, actually, nothing does.” ~ George Saunders.
